International Medical Conference on Parkinson's Disease & Movement Disorders
“GTS” in association with “Parkinson’s disease and Movement disorders research centre, Yashoda Hospital, Hitech City, Hyderabad, India”and muscat family Physicians organized an International Medical Conference on “Deep Brain Stimulation”. The meeting was held on Friday, July 26, 2025, at Intercity Hotel, Al Khuwair, Muscat-Oman.
The topic of discussion was “The role of Deep Brain Stimulation in alleviating the symptoms of various movement disorders especially Parkinson’s disease and dystonia”, which cause significant distress and burden to patients and families.
Dr. Rukmini, Sr. Consultant, Neurology, described the various indications and overview of procedure. Prof. Dr. Rupam, Sr. Consultant, Neurology, shared his experience with the long lasting benefits of DBS which improves the quality of life of PD patients and their families, while the impact of DBS in dystonia improving their symptoms remarkably was elucidated by Dr. Rajesh Sr. Consultant, Neurosurgery. The team showcased the 25 years of experience.
The team from Yashoda Hospital has not only performed more than 1000 cases, but also has been instrumental in training various teams across India and abroad and has an active fellowship program.
Yashoda group is offering DBS treatment for patients with movement disorders at a reasonable cost.
The Presentations were followed by a brain storming interaction between the visiting team of doctors & leading Neurologists/Neurosurgeons from Oman. The recent advances in the treatment & their benefits, other therapeutic modalities and the future possibilities were discussed.
Around 50 + leading doctors which included Neurologists, Neurosurgeons, Internists, Family Physicians, Physiotherapist, ER specialists, Homeopath & Ayurved doctors attended the meeting.
