Global Treatment Services in association with Oman Cancer Association and Apollo Hospitals Group, India, with special collaborative efforts successfully conducted a CME program at Intercity Hotel Muscat on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
The CME focused on “Updates in Breast Oncology” and brought together esteemed medical experts to discuss recent advancements in breast cancer care and treatment.
The event was graced by Dr. Tahira Al Lawati, Senior Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon and Board Member of the Oman Cancer Association, who moderated the session. Dr. Al Lawati highlighted the Oman Cancer Association’s ongoing efforts in cancer awareness and education, particularly in breast cancer, and emphasized the importance of collaboration in the medical community.
The keynote speakers included Dr. Jayanthi Thumasi, Lead Surgeon specializing in Breast Oncology, and Prof. Dr. Vishwanath, Senior Consultant in Medical Oncology and Fellow at MD Anderson, both from Apollo Hospitals Bangalore. Dr. Thumasi shared insights into the latest surgical techniques in breast oncology, while Dr. Vishwanath discussed precision oncology approaches for breast cancers including genomics and immunotherapy. He also spoke about CART cell therapy in relapsed lymphomas.
This session sparked a dynamic discussion on the challenges and advancements in breast cancer treatment, as well as the importance of psychosocial support for patients undergoing treatment.
